In this article, I would like to share one of my top NBA picks for today, Monday, November 4th. I actually like the Los Angeles Lakers’ -1.5 point option in the first quarter of their game against the Detroit Pistons.
The Lakers are 4-2 and their two losses to the Suns and Cavaliers, who have a combined record of 12-1, are not significant.
So far this year, the Lakers haven’t been very good in the first quarter, but I think they learned a lesson during their last game in Toronto. They got off to a hot start, taking a 43-19 lead in the opening quarter, which made their lives much easier for the rest of the game.
I don’t think Los Angeles will take its opponents lightly, given that the Pistons have won two of their three most recent meetings.
The rest factor also gives the Lakers an advantage. Detroit played Brooklyn yesterday and they will also be in action for the third time in four days. Meanwhile, the Lakers benefited from two full days of rest, which is a nice bonus in their favor.
This season, it’s safe to say that the Lakers have won every game they were supposed to win. I think this trend will continue, they will play hard in Detroit tonight.
Here’s the icing on the sundae: the Lakers have won each of their last 13 evening duels against teams with a record below .500.
Of course, we could take the -7 margin into account for the entire game, but I decided to listen to my mathematical model which estimates that it is better to go for the margin in the first quarter.
