Red Bull motorsport advisor Helmut Marko has said that for the good of the team a truce between him and Team Principal Christian Horner has been reached, as Red Bull faces fierce competition this season.

Red Bull Racing has had a very strong start to the season on the track but very turbulent internally following allegations of inappropriate behavior made against team principal Christian Horner by a female employee. An internal investigation was then launched, but the Briton was ultimately cleared and was able to keep his position.

Although innocent, this affair left traces internally and speculation about a power struggle between Horner and Helmut Marko emerged, although neither reports directly to the other in the organization (Horner is head team and Marko is an advisor and reports directly to Red Bull GmbH).

However, despite the few internal disputes, Helmut Marko revealed that a truce has been concluded for the good of the team which has found itself in difficulty for a few races facing a reinvigorated Scuderia Ferrari and a McLaren team in better shape than ever. .

“We have concluded a truce. We will combine all our strengths, even if we are no longer superior, we want to win. » Helmut Marko told Austrian newspaper Kronen Zeitung.

“We really want to make the most of it and aim for the world championship title. We lost the dominance we had in the first three races. Competition has caught up in the third year of the current regulation. »

“They copied some things and even improved them. There’s not much room for innovation anymore. It’s just a logical development, there’s nothing negative about it. »

When asked if he thinks that Red Bull will be favorite this weekend at the Canadian Grand Prix, Helmut Marko once again believes that Ferrari will be very fast like in Monaco.

“Ferrari is better there [au Canada], also in terms of top speed. The fact is that we are not coming to Canada as favorites. » concluded the Austrian.

Before the Canadian Grand Prix, the Red Bull team leads the constructors’ world championship with 24 points ahead of Scuderia Ferrari.
