Vosges: the teenager accused of the murder of little Rose in 2023 targeted by a complaint for rape and sexual assault

The teenager suspected of the murder of Rose, 5 years old, in Rambervillers (Vosges) in 2023, is the target of a new complaint for rape and sexual assault, according to information from BFM confirmed to Le Parisien.

The Epinal public prosecutor opened a preliminary investigation after filing a complaint in April 2024. A young girl whose age was not specified, who would be a former friend of the suspect according to BFM, denounces acts allegedly committed in February 2022 at the boy’s home.

This new complaint adds to the very worrying profile of the suspect, now 16 years old. He will be tried in the children’s court on June 11 and 12 for the murder of Rose in 2023. The body of the 5-year-old girl was found at the teenager’s home in a trash bag. Her family reported her disappearance while the little girl was playing in the street.

The suspect admitted to having held the child’s head underwater in the bathtub during a reconstruction in June. The analyzes carried out on the body of the little girl made it possible to rule out the hypothesis of rape.

If, before the investigating judge, the accused was not able to explain the reasons for his action, denying any premeditation, the chronology of the crime is chilling: it took him less than 25 minutes to commit the crime. The latest assessments point to “a significant risk of recurrence”.

The teenager was sentenced in March in Épinal to three years in prison for rape and sexual assault on two children aged 11 and 12. One of them declared having been kidnapped and raped by the defendant, then aged 14. The second said he had been the victim of a sexual assault. The victims were allegedly tied to a tree before suffering the acts they denounced. The defendant’s lawyer announced his intention to appeal.
