fighter planes who land on the highway. It’s sure, it’s unusual. The Swiss media widely reported the event, which took place on Wednesday in Payerne (VD). The German-speaking TV channel SRF even covered the exercise, entitled Alpha Uno, from 9 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., during an exceptional live broadcast. A program, shared between images of planes and interviews with soldiers, which is disturbing when it comes time to take stock. “Four hours of military propaganda. Is this still a public service?”, asks Green national councilor Marionna Schlatter. On Monday, during question time, she intends to ask the Federal Council for its opinion on the subject, reports the “Walliser Bote” on Friday.

Questioned by the Upper Valais media, the German-speaking channel refutes the accusations. According to the latter, the Alpha Uno exercise was of great public interest. This is demonstrated by the approximately 85,000 viewers on average who followed the event and the enthusiasm generated by the articles about Alpha Uno on their website. The SRF also affirms that many critical questions were asked, live, of the leaders of the Swiss Air Force. No need to talk about “propaganda”, then. Note that criticism of the media coverage of the event only focused on the SRF, because the RTS and RSI did not cover it live.
