Umm Mohammad feels like she has been repeating the same sentence tirelessly for eight months: “We no longer know where to go.” She and her family had already left the al-Bureij refugee camp, in the center of the Gaza Strip, a few days ago: death was too present there, the shooting and bombings had become unbearable, the destruction of more and more massive. Everyone had found refuge in a first school then in a second educational establishment in Nuseirat after a few hours of walking.

“When we were at home, the Israelis were bombing nearby, the planes were constantly passing over our heads. They ended up hitting right next to the first school, then on the second.” During the night from Wednesday to Thursday, around two in the morning, the school managed by UNRWA where Umm Mohammad was located was targeted: at least 40 people – including 9 women and 14 children – were killed. and 74 others injured, according to the latest report provided by the Gaza Ministry of Health.
