The recall campaign is gaining momentum at Stellantis: after the 247,000 motorists affected in France, owners of Citroën C3 or DS3, who must stop using their vehicle. Nearly 8 million cars would now be affected in Europe, even if for this second wave, it would be more of a precautionary principle.
After receiving the famous letter and registering on a platform, the Holy Grail is receiving the code which allows you to go to a mechanic and hope for a replacement of the defective airbag. This is precisely what Olivia, a thirty-year-old who lives in the Alpes-Maritimes and who continues to use her Citroën C3, is still waiting for.
“I have no choice, plus I have two jobs, I even work Saturdays and Sundays alongside my main activity and I have to take my car for my client meetings. So, we are aware of the risk, but hey, we still say that the cars are ten years old and so far, so good. But, we are still not immune to the fact that eventually it could blow up in our face. And then we are completely abandoned by Stellantis and Citroën,” she explains.
“You can ride, but no, you are not completely insured”
Michel is 62 years old and lives near Toulouse. He prefers to remain cautious: his car hasn’t moved for almost three weeks. He even tried to clarify the situation with his insurer, in vain: “I asked my insurance: ‘Am I covered or not?’. He replied: ‘Well, yes and no . If your car is damaged, yes. On the other hand, if there is bodily damage, no. I reply: ‘Ah, so that means I can’t drive?’. ride, but no, you’re not completely insured. That means I can’t ride!'”
In the event of an incident, there is actually very little chance that your insurance will compensate you in full. To be fixed, a court decision would be required, which would then set a precedent.
