Around fifty countries call for an arms embargo against Israel
Turkey has submitted a joint letter to the UN, signed by 52 countries and two organizations, demanding a halt to the supply and delivery of weapons to Israel, the Turkish Foreign Minister announced on Sunday. “We must repeat at every opportunity that selling weapons to Israel means participating [au] genocide” that Turkey accuses him of perpetrating against the Palestinians of Gaza, added Hakan Fidan. He presented this letter as “an initiative launched by Turkey”. It was signed by 52 countries, including Saudi Arabia, Brazil, Algeria, China, Iran and Russia, and two organizations, the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
Ceasefire could influence Iran's response to Israel, Tehran says
Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian said Sunday that a possible ceasefire between Tehran's allies and Israel could impact “intensity and nature” of his country's response to the Israeli strikes carried out on October 26 against Iran.
At least 30 dead in Israeli bombings in the Gaza Strip
Of the “Israeli airstrikes” left at least 17 dead in the north of the Gaza Strip, Civil Defense spokesperson Mahmoud Bassal told AFP. The deadliest strike was “six dead, including women and children” in a house in Beit Lahia, in the far north, he said. The Hamas Ministry of Health, for its part, reported 13 Palestinians killed in the south of the enclave, during several bombings.
Benjamin Netanyahu threatens Hezbollah with “firm response”
The Israeli Prime Minister visited the border with Lebanon on Sunday, from where the Israeli army launched an offensive against Hezbollah at the end of September, his office announced in a statement. His last visit to the Israeli-Lebanese border was on October 6. He threatened the Lebanese Hezbollah, an organization allied with Iran, of “firm response”.
At least three dead in Israeli strike near Sidon, southern Lebanon
At least three people died and nine others were injured in Haret Saïda, near the Lebanese city of Sidon, in the south of the country, according to national authorities. In Ghaziyeh, another commune in this area, a residential building was hit and a child pulled alive from the rubble. The surroundings of the Tebnine public hospital were affected and the establishment risks being out of service because of the extent of the damage, said the mayor.
A new call for evacuation in the Lebanese region of Baalbek
The Israeli army issued a new appeal to the population to evacuate certain areas of the Baalbek region in eastern Lebanon on Sunday. “You are located near Hezbollah facilities and interests”warns the army spokesperson in Arabic in a message https://twitter.com/AvichayAdraee/status/1853005535299219951accompanied by maps of the intended targets. He also calls for the evacuation of the village of Dourres, near the thousand-year-old city. Shortly after, strikes targeted the region, with the Lebanese agency ANI reporting the destruction of a café-restaurant.
