The Israeli army has rejected accusations made by the World Health Organization (WHO) and Hamas, according to which the IDF attacked a vaccination center in Gaza City on Sunday, injuring six people.
“We have received extremely worrying reports suggesting that the Sheikh Radwan clinic in the northern Gaza Strip was struck today as parents brought their children to be vaccinated against polio, in a sector where a humanitarian pause had been decided to allow this vaccination campaign,” declared the head of the WHO, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, in a post which appeared on X.
“Six people were injured, including four children,” he added in his publication.

The WHO chief did not specify the origin of the strike – but a source from the body responsible for civil defense in the strip, a body managed by Hamas, told AFP that ” an Israeli quadcopter fired two missiles which hit the wall of the Sheikh Radwan dispensary.
In response to a request for comment on the subject, the IDF said it was aware of civilians injured at the vaccination center, adding that contrary to reports, the military had not targeted the area at the time of the attacks. facts.

“We are aware of reports of attacks by Palestinian civilians at the Sheikh Radwan vaccination center in the northern Gaza Strip. But contrary to what has been claimed, a preliminary investigation revealed that the IDF did not attack the sector at the time of the events,” said the Israeli army.
She added that she “underlines that the Hamas terrorist organization deliberately fires from civilian areas, systematically violating international law and cynically exploiting the civilian population as human shields to carry out its terrorist acts against the State of Israel. »
