Ayatollah Khamenei made a threatening speech towards Israel and the United States this Saturday in Tehran. In front of students, the Iranian Supreme Leader promised to respond to any attack by one of the two allied countries against his country or its affiliated entities in the region.
“The enemies, both the United States and the Zionist regime, must know that they will certainly receive a scathing response to their actions against Iran, the Iranian nation and the resistance front.” launched the Iranian spiritual leader. By “resistance front”Ali Khamenei refers to the Lebanese Hezbollah, the Palestinian Hamas, the Houthi rebels of Yemen and the Iraqi armed groups that Tehran supports.
The specter of a response that will “beyond the understanding of the enemy”
“We are certainly doing everything that needs to be done for the preparation of the Iranian nation, whether in military terms, in terms of armaments or politically” against any threat, specifies the Iranian supreme guide cited by the local Fars agency, adding that “the response to the enemy's new aggression will be given in a firm, thoughtful and powerful manner, and will exceed the enemy's understanding.”.
Bellicose statements that are part of a specific political agenda. On November 4, Iran will celebrate the 45th anniversary of the storming of the American embassy in the country, taken over by force by demonstrators in 1979. An assault which gave rise to an endless hostage-taking: 52 American nationals had been detained by the mullahs' regime for 444 days.
