Due to the weather conditions in São Paulo, the program for the rest of the weekend is turned upside down, whether for Qualifying or the Grand Prix.
The drivers will start their day very early since the session Qualifications is now scheduled for 7:30 a.m. local time, i.e. 11:30 a.m. French time.
The start of the Grand Prix which was initially scheduled for 6:00 p.m. French time, this Sunday is finally brought forward to 4:30 p.m. French time. In São Paulo, it will then be 12:30 p.m. when the lights go out.
The race schedule was also changed due to the weather forecast this Sunday, also predicting rain.
“Following the conditions encountered in São Paulo today, the decision was made not to proceed with qualifying due to poor visibility, standing water on the track and fading light,” said the FIA in a post on X.
“Safety is always the paramount consideration in such circumstances and although maximum time was given to allow conditions to improve, this was unfortunately not the case. We are very grateful to all the fans who stayed at the track hoping to see cars on the track today.”
“Therefore, the decision was taken, after consultation with the stewards, to schedule qualifying for 7:30 a.m. local time, [11h30 en France] Sunday morning, before the Grand Prix at 12:30 p.m. local time [16h30 en France]. The FIA and Formula 1 believe this timetable change is necessary and the right thing to do for all our passionate fans.”
“We thank everyone for their patience today, including the fans, drivers, teams, marshals, track personnel and media, and we look forward to providing everyone with an exciting race on Sunday.”
