Saskatchewan RCMP have made two arrests in connection to Wednesday morning’s fatal shooting in the Niverville area.

According to Winnipeg Police, a black Ford F-350 was reported stolen southwest of the city and was making its way to Winnipeg with several potentially armed individuals involved in prior criminal activity.

The vehicle was spotted in Winnipeg shortly before 1 am and officers requested assistance from Air1. The chase led officers to a parking lot in Otterburne, where a Winnipeg Police cruiser was rammed by the stolen vehicle. Police officers then discharged their firearms and the suspects fled.

The pursuit ended in the Shell gas station parking lot on Drovers Run in Niverville. Air1 observed the driver exit the stolen vehicle, enter another vehicle, and flee the area.

An adult female passenger attempted to flee on foot; however, RCMP officers quickly placed her under arrest.

Winnipeg Police Service officers attended the stolen abandoned truck and located an adult male passenger suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers provided emergency medical care to the victim before the arrival of ambulance; however, he died of his injuries.

Meanwhile, later in the day, Saskatchewan RCMP indicated they were working to locate the suspect, 29-year-old David Frank Burling in a 2016 Subaru Crosstrek.

At approximately 2:30 pm CST, Saskatchewan RCMP stopped a vehicle near Springside. They arrested both occupants, David Frank Burling and an adult female, without incident.

RCMP say they were in a silver vehicle and not in the green 2016 Subaru Crosstrek. Saskatchewan RCMP continues to ask members of the public to call 310-RCMP if they see the Subaru. Don’t approach it.

RCMP thank members of the public for their assistance during this ongoing investigation.
