Some gadgets are often useless, but they can save lives if a fire breaks out in your home. Here are the three things we should all have in a corner of the house… Just in case!
Shops and websites are full of accessories and gadgets of all kinds: whether it's small decorative items for your smartphone, for cleaning the house, for cooking or tidying your cupboards… We always find something to buy . These often fanciful little trinkets are fun, sometimes used on a daily basis, but most of the time they end up at the bottom of a drawer or in the trash. But if there are many things to have in your home, it is undoubtedly these three things, although you hope to never need them when you buy them.
Indeed, we can quickly panic when a fire breaks out. So what should you do if you live upstairs and need to escape the flames? How to prevent fire from spreading and how to protect yourself and other members of the family? In the event of a fire, the obligatory smoke detector in each home provides warning, but these objects are very practical for saving lives while waiting for the firefighters to arrive.
The first accessory to have on hand is a mini fire extinguisher, which does not take up much space at home, and which can limit the spread of flames or simply put out a start of fire. It is sold from around twenty euros on Amazon for example or at Leroy Merlin. Another very useful gadget for protection: the fire blanket (between 10 and 20 euros) which allows you to leave the house in complete safety by placing it on you. It can also be used to put out the fire by smothering it (by placing the blanket on top if the flames are not yet too great). Finally, if you live upstairs, an emergency ladder is essential if you have to leave the premises from the outside. It folds and can be stored in a corner of the garden, on the balcony or in a cupboard.
Remember that each year in France, more than 300,000 cases of house fires are detected according to the Ministry of the Interior. So, even if you don't use these accessories, it can be reassuring to have them on hand. After calling the firefighters, they can be useful while waiting for help to arrive.
