On May 9, the MyHeritage site released a study on the origins of international pop star Taylor Swift. The artist, who was in Lyon on June 2, is said to be of French origins and to be from the family of Louis XIV.

Taylor Swift, one of the world’s most influential pop stars, is said to be from the family of Louis XIV. It is the international online genealogy platform MyHeritage who revealed this information, notably taken up by our colleagues from Progress.

While the star will be traveling to France on June 2 as part of The Eras Tour, her fans will be delighted to learn that she has French origins, and what’s more, royal ones.

14th-century English aristocracy

This connection between Taylor Swift and the Sun King dates back to the English aristocracy of the 14th century. According to the genealogy site, their common ancestor would be the second Earl of Suffolk, Michael de la Pole, husband of Katherine Stafford.

It is explained that “on Taylor Swift’s side, it was in the 17th century that her English ancestors left for the American colonies”while “on the side of Louis her daughter is none other than Marie de Medici, the paternal grandmother of Louis XIV.”
