the smartphone that everyone will grab

After the Redmi Note 13 and several models from Poco, Xiaomi continues to expand its catalog via its different brands. The Chinese manufacturer announces the launch in France of the Redmi 13, a new entry-level model at a competitive price. Sold for less than 200 euros, it offers an interesting technical sheet and becomes the first in its line to have a 108 megapixel camera.

A neat design, with a glass back

Before focusing on the technical part, it is important to focus on the design of this Redmi 13. Despite a low price, Xiaomi offers a glass back “with effects imitating the undulations of the sea”. The smartphone has dimensions of 168.6 x 76.3 x 8.3 mm for 205 g and claims IP53 certification.

Available in black, pink and blue, it comes on the front with a 6.79-inch IPS screen displaying Full HD+ (2,460 x 1,080 pixels). The refresh rate is 90 Hz and the panel offers a peak brightness of 550 cd/m². It is covered with Corning Gorilla glass for increased resistance to “daily wear and tear”.

A technical sheet less ambitious than the Redmi Note 13

Inside, the Redmi 13 has a MediaTek Helio G91-Ultra chip. Engraved in 12 nm, it consists of an eight-core CPU (processor) part and a Mali-G52 MC2 GPU. Xiaomi makes do with a 4G modem and adds 8 GB of RAM, as well as 256 GB of storage. It is still possible to add a microSD card up to 1 TB to expand the storage capacity. Compared to a Redmi Note 13, it loses the AMOLED screen and the Snapdragon 685.

On the photo side, Xiaomi boasts the presence of a 108 Mpx main sensor. It is a 1/1.67 inch Samsung ISOCELL HM6 sensor and its high definition allows the brand to claim an “integrated x3 zoom”. The photo part of the Redmi 13 thus gains in versatility, but don’t think that this replaces a real telephoto lens. The smartphone will only be able to rely on this wide-angle module, since its second 2 Mpx sensor (f/2.4) dedicated to macro should not be of much help.

Finally, Xiaomi’s new smartphone has a 5,030 mAh battery which should give it good autonomy. The manufacturer simply mentions “excellent all-day performance on a single charge”. We expect that autonomy will be one of the strong points of this model, which is often the guy of smartphones with modest configurations. In addition, Xiaomi offers 33W fast charging and announces a 100% recharge in approximately 1 hour (62 minutes).

Price, availability and competition

The Xiaomi Redmi 13 will be officially available in France on June 11, starting at 199 euros. The manufacturer mentions a single version of 8 GB + 256 GB in three colors (black, blue, pink).

Its price could help it become one of the brand’s best-sellers in France. However, competition is tough with the comeback of Realme and its affordable models (C67, 12x, 12 and 12+), not forgetting Samsung with the Galaxy A15. The Redmi 13 will also have to face… the Redmi Note 13 that Xiaomi offers at similar prices. The latter starts at 199 euros in the 6 GB + 128 GB version and rises to 249 euros for the 8 GB + 256 GB model.
