An Aleop school bus ended up in a ditch this Monday morning in Requeil (Sarthe), transporting 33 students on their way to Pontvallain college. Although the accident did not cause any serious injuries, the driver and a student were slightly affected.
Leaving the road due to wet road surfaces
According to France Bleu, this Monday, November 25, 2024, around 8:30 a.m., a school bus from the network Aleopwhich was carrying 33 students, left the road in Requeil, in the south of Sarthe. According to initial information, the road made slippery by humidity would be the cause of the loss of control of the vehicle, which ended up in a ditch.
Despite the impressive exit from the road, the Sarthe Departmental Fire and Rescue Service (Sdis) confirmed that there was no no serious injuries to deplore.
Two people slightly affected
The driver, suffering from neck pain, was treated on the spot but refused any medical transportaccording to Sdis. A student, obviously shocked by the incidentwas picked up by her father shortly after the accident.
The Pays de la Loire Region, responsible for the Aleop service, indicated that the student was doing well despite the emotional shock.
A quick emergency device
Faced with this incident, 20 firefighters were mobilized to secure the area and take care of the students. A replacement coach was quickly dispatched to allow the other children to return to their school, the Pontvallain college.
Increased vigilance on winter roads
This incident reminds us of the importance of caution on the roadsparticularly during this period when weather conditions can quickly degrade grip. Although more fear than harm was recorded in this accident, the authorities urge vigilance.
The students concerned should return to classes normally, once checks on their health have been carried out.
