What future for the Tesla brand?

As usual, Elon Musk continues to make ambitious promises for Tesla, particularly regarding autonomous vehicleswhich however remain inaccessible to the general public. Because despite regular announcements since 2016, the manufacturer’s autonomous driving system, even in its most advanced versions, still requires human intervention.

Ambitious plans for Tesla

But the American firm obviously does not intend to stop there. Indeed, its CEO recently affirmed that Tesla will build several million “Robotaxi” autonomous vehicles, and promised that by 2026, the model without steering wheel or pedals, too called Cybercabwill be produced in large quantities. However, for the moment, Teslas remain vehicles with driving assistance rather than fully autonomous vehicles. And the manufacturer then falls behind the competition, and in particular Waymo, a subsidiary of Google. It has already launched transport services without a human driver in certain American cities, but with expensive technology based on sophisticated radars and sensors. Tesla is banking on cameras alone, hoping to reduce costs, but many experts are skeptical about the reliability of this approach for driverless driving. The Cybercab prototype recently presented by Musk also comes up against American regulations, because it could only be authorized for circulation in limited quantities.

Regulations that will change?

Indeed, the United States does not yet have a harmonized national framework for autonomous vehicles at present. Musk, on the other hand, could benefit from favorable federal regulations if he manages to influence policies, in particular through his support for Donald Trump, who could, in the event of a presidential victory in 2024, support regulations favorable to Tesla’s ambitions. However, this would also benefit all other manufacturers and not just the American firm. Furthermore, Musk could also launch a more affordable Tesla model by 2025, which could increase sales by 20 to 30% next year if the economy remains stable. But for the moment, this project still remains very uncertain, and no information has yet been given on this subject. Tesla has recently experienced modest growth with a 6% increase in its quarterly deliveries, mainly thanks to Models 3 and Y. The Cybertruck, the latest model, is also establishing itself as a success in the electric pick-up market in the United States. UNITED STATES.

And for good reason, it is currently the most sold there, far ahead of all its rivals on the market. And the success of the manufacturer should continue, while its figures are particularly good for the 3rd quarter of 2024, with clearly high margins and profits which are also high.
