The National Brigade of Judicial Investigations of the Royal Gendarmerie of Rabat recently delivered its conclusions following an investigation into an anonymous denunciation of a murder, allegedly committed by a political figure from Gharb.
This denunciation reached the prosecution at the Court of Appeal of Kenitra, relays Assaba this Wednesday, May 5, 2024.
The alleged perpetrator was allegedly involved in the murder of one of his employees on a farm four years ago.
He allegedly attributed the cause of his employee’s death to the Covid-19 pandemic and subsequently destroyed the evidence at the scene where the crime took place, after burying his victim.
According to an interlocutor ofAssabathe prosecution studied the complaint which contained details of the alleged murder and which named its author as being an elected official who currently chairs a prefectural council in a town in the Rabat-Salé-Kenitra region.
Previously, he had been the president of an urban commune and had been a deputy in the House of Representatives, from 2016 to 2021.
Heard by gendarmerie investigators, the alleged culprit categorically denied the allegations contained in this report.
He affirmed in a report that he does not know the real reasons for sending this “slanderous denunciation» which would be linked, he declared, to the new reconfiguration of the political map in the region after the last legislative elections.
He thus suspected one of his political adversaries who would have developed this scenario which he described as “cynical”, to take revenge on him. Heard in turn by the investigators, the wife of the deceased declared that all she knew was that her husband had died following complications linked to Covid 19, and that she neither suspected nor accused no one.
The prosecution, however, ordered to consult the registers of one of the hospitals in the Gharb region, to consult the medical report which should in principle indicate the cause of death of the deceased.
