On Car Free Day, French-speaking Belgian political figure Rajae Maouane made the unusual choice of coming by taxi to an interview. Despite her co-presidency of the Ecolo party, she fully accepts her decision: “I have no stress, I accept it and I would do it again if I had to do it again”. She still adds that she does not have a car or a driver to get around in everyday life.
Being a big football fan, the co-president of Ecolo admits to having followed the Football World Cup in Qatar despite environmental criticism: “I was unable to boycott. I am completely against the environmental impact. I said that we had to boycott Qatar diplomatically, but that in sporting terms, I was going to follow the World Cup and that I was going to support the Devils at full tilt”.
