The country producers’ markets were initiated by the Gironde Chamber of Agriculture to allow the public to discover authentic products from the farms of its members. Born at the end of the last century, these festive and friendly meetings immediately won over the public. The innovative principle of composing your own menu from the producers present and tasting it with family or friends quickly gained popularity. Markets mushroomed throughout the summers. Some have become real events attracting several hundred guests when not more than a thousand. Over the years, they have been copied and come under various names such as night markets and gourmet markets. During the summer period, not a week goes by without there being one almost every evening in the southern Gironde region and that of Entre-deux-Mers.

“Sunday June 9 is voting day for the European elections. Before or after their visit to the Saint Romain room, where the polling station is located, why not come and take a look at the local producers’ market, on the town hall esplanade, Place de la République. This event organized by the town hall in collaboration with the Chamber of Agriculture and its partners the territorial center Cœur Entre-deux-Mers promises the public a pleasant gourmet break,” declares Mayor Christophe Miqueu. Contrary to the usual procedure, this country producers’ market will not take place in the evening, but at the end of the morning and ending in the early afternoon. The public will be able to discover and taste quality local productions during the farmer’s aperitif and through tapas. And to make this lunch even more festive, musical entertainment will be provided by the variety group Les Pompes nomades.
