BYD Yangwang U9 tested at the Nürburgring and prepared for market launch in summer

The Nürburgring is a key testing ground for international automakers, often used to fine-tune performance and showcase lap times. With its impressive specifications, the Yangwang U9 aims to compete with supercars from Ferrari and Lamborghini, as well as electric sports cars such as the Rimac Nevera.

The Yangwang U9 has over 1,200 horsepower (882 kW) and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.36 seconds. The test vehicles wore camouflage that revealed much of the car’s design, including a large rear wing and other aerodynamic features that appear to be inactive.

Despite the rigorous testing, BYD has not officially attempted to set a new lap record. For a record to be recognized, the vehicle must undergo official timing and verification to ensure it meets the required standards.

The Yangwang U9 can be pre-ordered at a price of 215,000 euros (1.68 million yuan), with deliveries scheduled to begin in summer 2024. In addition to the U9, Yangwang also offers the U8 electric SUV, which is known for its striking design and competes with the Mercedes-Benz G-Class.

With the upcoming launch of the Yangwang U9, BYD will make a significant impact on the high-performance electric vehicle market, combining luxury with cutting-edge technology.
