The “Motorcycle safety trajectory” day, organized by the gendarmerie, delighted 60 bikers from Roannais, this Sunday, June 2… despite the rain.

On the road and on marked routes, the gendarmes supervised 60 bikers from Roannais who came to seek advice and conviviality. Like every year, the 60 places dedicated to the “Motorcycle safety trajectory” day in Roanne, scheduled for this Sunday, June 2, were quickly reserved. It was the same in Saint-Étienne and Montbrison a few weeks ago.

A road circuit and handling courses

The aim of this day, integrated into the road safety action plan of the Loire prefecture, is the practice of a trajectory which allows driving in complete safety (in the center of the road), while being pleasure, and to review some fundamentals. The bikers applied the safety trajectory on a circuit of approximately 120 km in Roannais. “We can simply regret that there are very few people under 35 or 40 present,” lamented Commander Denis Cheynet, head of the Departmental Road Safety Squadron (EDSR) which supervises these days.

The 60 participating bikers were divided into two groups, who, alternately in the morning and afternoon, rode on a road circuit of around a hundred kilometers in Roannais, and participated in workshops: two marked circuits (one fast and a slow) for the handling of the motorcycle, and a workshop on equipment, particularly regarding airbag vests.

“A very informative and useful day”

Eleven bikers from the Motorized Brigades of Roanne and Saint-Étienne and the Motorized Platoons of Feurs and Noirétable supervised the participants on the road, while four driving license examiners advised them during the maneuverability courses. A police officer from the Roanne police station was responsible for demonstrations of the equipment.

In the afternoon, the runs took place in the rain, further emphasizing the importance of the safety trajectory. “A very informative and useful day”, according to all the participating bikers.
