Haute-Loire. Radar explosion and death of a young man in Polignac: what we know

The gendarmes of the community of brigades of Saint-Paulien and the Puy-en-Velay research brigade initially tiptoed into the drama which unfolded on the night of May 8 to 9 in Polignac…

A 23-year-old from Loudois was found very seriously injured near the device before succumbing to his injuries on Friday May 10 at the Saint-Étienne University Hospital. At first vague, the scenario of this terrible news story becomes clearer.

Gasoline, mortar then lighter: a fatal combo

According to our information, two individuals broke the radar window near Bleu’s area of activity before dousing the device with gasoline. They then moved aside to carry out, at least, one mortar shot towards their target. This did not work and the deceased young man approached the radar with a lighter. This initiative was fatal since the ignition from the broken window led to the explosion of the device, a significant backfire and the projection of a piece of metal. His partner alerted the emergency services before disappearing. Quickly identified, he was placed as a witness. Other people were then interviewed.

The investigation continues

According to The Awakening of Haute-Loire, a few days ago, he was placed in police custody and referred to the criminal department of the Clermont-Ferrand public prosecutor’s office, which did not respond to our requests. A judicial investigation was opened and the investigation was entrusted to an investigating judge. The victim’s childhood friend was indicted, placed under judicial supervision and released.
