With the draft approaching in a month and the free agent market opening a few days later, the Vegas Golden Knights have only $900,000 free under the salary cap without having signed Jonathan Marchessault, Chandler Stephenson And William Carrier.

Unfortunately for them, even if the organization were able to free up space on the trade market, it likely wouldn’t be able to free up enough flexibility to keep everyone.

A separation between Jonathan Marchessault and the Knights is therefore more possible than ever.

A difficult situation to accept as much for the player as for the team because Marchessault has just finished the most prolific season of his career with 42 goals and the previous season he was the hero of the playoffs in the conquest of the Stanley Cup. Marchessault, who is one of the only original Golden Knights, always wanted to finish his career in Nevada. However, due to the financial constraints that the team imposed on itself at the trade deadline, he will have to change address in a few weeks, barring a miraculous turnaround.

Moreover, he himself has just confirmed that there have been no discussions for a possible contract in Vegas, thus confirming what seemed more and more obvious.

In an interview with David SchoenMarchessault mentioned this regarding negotiations with management:

I asked the question last summer. I was like, “You know what? I would prefer to do it in the summer, before the season.” They told me they weren’t ready to do it, and after that, there wasn’t even a single discussion during the season

He adds that there have been no discussions since the end of the season.

Vegas showed for years that if you weren’t good enough, he would find a solution. What they haven’t shown enough is that if you’re good enough, you’ll be rewarded.

That said, this is certainly not what will prevent Quebecers from enjoying the pleasures that the city of Vegas offers for a few more weeks.

He has just been seen at World Series of Poker and everything indicates that he will participate in this 55th edition.

THE World Series of Poker (WSOP) are an annual series of poker tournaments. They will take place from May 28 to July 17 at Horseshoe Las Vegas and Paris Las Vegas in Las Vegas. The main event, the No-Limit Hold’em at $10,000 will begin on July 3 and the champion will be chosen on July 1.
