From gold to rosewood: fourteen couples celebrated at the town hall of Saint-Renan

Saturday October 19, 2024 at the town hall of Saint-Renan, a ceremony honored fourteen couples to celebrate seven golden weddings (marriage in 1974), six diamond weddings (marriage in 1964) and one rosewood wedding (marriage in 1959). The couples received a bouquet of flowers, a copy of their marriage certificate and a city medal in the presence of their families and friends.

“You embody confidence and longevity”

The mayor, Gilles Mounier, congratulated all the couples. “You embody confidence and longevity. We salute your constancy and we express all our admiration for you.” Couples answered questions about the time of their wedding and the names of witnesses. Some shared anecdotes about the wedding ceremony. “When the wedding ring was handed over to the church, it fell to the ground and after research, we found it under the priest’s dawn,” said André Proto, for example. Six marriages were celebrated in Saint-Renan. The guests then gathered around the banquet the same day, and also sometimes the next day, often at the Kermarrec restaurants or at Treillis vert.

Lilyan and Paulette Dron, married since 1959

Lilyan and Paulette Dron were married on April 25, 1959 in Caudry (North) and celebrated their wedding in Rosewood. “Our daughter having settled in Le Conquet, we came to live in Saint-Renan two years ago,” indicate Lilyan and Paulette, 88 years old, former public school teachers.

The couples who celebrated their golden wedding anniversary (50 years of marriage) are Patrick and Thérèse Chesnais, Yvon and Jeannine Cren, Henri and Marie-Thérèse Fourn, Jean-François and Herveline Nédélec, André and Irène Proto, Guy and Yveline Saillard, as well as François and Agnès Seité. The diamond wedding anniversary (60 years of marriage) of Jean and Gisèle Autret, Lucien and Monique Le Deun, Michel and Michelle Lesvenan, Raymond and Denis Mocaer, Roger and Nicolle Noël, Yvon and Renée Trébaol were also celebrated.
