Alexis Lebrun was crowned European singles champion on Sunday in Linz for the first time in his career after largely beating the German Benedikt Duda four sets to zero (11-5/11-8/11-6/11-2 ).

Less than two hours after being crowned in doubles alongside his little brother Félix, Alexis Lebrun, 19e world player, became at 21 the third French European champion, eight years after Emmanuel Lebesson in Budapest and almost half a century after Jacques Secutin in Prague (1976).

Alexis avenged his brother Félix

This gold medal ends a perfect week for the resident, two months after the fantastic summer experienced by the French ping at the Olympics. If he had bowed in 8e in the singles final, Alexis Lebrun won team bronze alongside his brother and Simon Gauzy. Félix Lebrun won bronze in singles.

In the quarter final in Linz, Benedikt Duda, 28e world player, had eliminated the youngest of the Lebrun brothers, 18 years old. But in the final, the elder Lebrun gave him no chance, imperial as he was throughout the day, where he did not lose a single set in three matches played, singles and doubles.
