The coast guards still searching for the missing

Around twenty people fell into the water and 7 people died. Many people were also injured. Sapelo Island was to host a gathering of members of the Gullah-Geechee community according to authorities. The Gullah-Geechee are peoples descended from enslaved African peoples on the coasts of the southeastern United States.

Marty, the girls, and I are heartbroken by today’s tragedy on Sapelo Island. As state and local first responders continue to work this active scene, we ask that all Georgians join us in praying for those lost, for those still in harm’s way, and for their families.
