A solid television feast awaited us this evening at En direct de l’univers, while actor Normand D’Amour had the great honor of seeing the soundtrack of his life unfold before his eyes. From start to finish, once again, Beaudoin and her team were able to deliver the goods, to offer us a most memorable show!

With an appetizer celebrating the 70s, during which his own daughter Marguerite D’Amour stole the show (details here), several of Normand’s friends appeared on stage to celebrate this “music guy”. From René Simard and Laurent Paquin on “Aimer d’amour” to Benoît McGinnis with “Long Train Running”, without forgetting Benjamin Gratton on the hit “Papaoutai”, the actor’s musical selection was as varied as it was relevant for our ears!

Playing oncologist Pascal St-Cyr in STAT, it would have been surprising if some of his colleagues at Saint-Vincent Hospital did not visit him. This is how his actor friend Lou-Pascal Tremblay came to the set with a troupe of Haka, a ritual sung dance in which each note touches the heart of the person concerned. “ The Haka has always touched me deep in my soul » he even admitted.

From disco to jazz, including blues and rock, the most striking moment of the evening was undoubtedly the arrival of France Castel and her fierce version of Jean Leloup’s song “I Lost My Baby”.

Very vocal, her duet with Steve Hill ignited social networks, generating a shower of laudatory comments:

  • « I’m not a blues fan but when it’s singing like that with a great France Castel I’ll take it all the time. Simply masterful performance! I adore her! »
  • « I am speechless! What an exceptional interpretation! »
  • « France Castel… she always amazes me… truly a beautiful artist… Her presence is always pleasant and she gives 100% »
  • « WoW x 1000 France Castel will always amaze us with his great talent! And what can we say about the great Steve Hill, my best guitarist! Thank you so much for this magnificent performance! »

The episode could not end better than on “Tenir erect” and “Brown Eyed Girl”, beautifully performed by Normand’s partner, Pascale . The latter said to him “ It’s one of the most beautiful voices I know! » and we could hardly contradict him!

Yes, it was an evening where the love of music rubbed shoulders with the musical excellence of accomplished artists, led by a team equipped with the best instruments. Each edition always amazes us more and always comes close to the television climax. We love… with love!

The show En direct de l’univers is broadcast every Saturday at 7 p.m. on ICI Télé.
