Boeing: new incident, a plane must make an “emergency stop”

Un Boeing chartered by the Delta company made an “emergency stop” on Saturday when taking off from Dakar airport, postponing its flight to New York but without “any bodily harm” to its passengers, announced the Senegalese Ministry of Air Transport.

“The plane, during takeoff, carried out an acceleration maneuver followed by an emergency stop due to a technical incident. The pilot was able to bring the plane to a safe stop,” the ministry said in a statement.

The incident involved a Boeing 767 and occurred on Saturday “around 11:30 a.m.”, according to the same source. “No bodily harm was recorded. All 213 passengers on board are safe. They were picked up and taken to hotels to ensure their comfort. Their departure for New York is scheduled for Sunday, October 20, 2024, at 10 a.m.,” she continued.

The National Civil Aviation Agency and the Bureau of Investigation and Analysis of Senegal (BEA) “will carry out in-depth investigations to determine the exact causes of this incident,” added the ministry.
