On Thursday, October 17, at the Sig court, prosecutor Messaoud Dhahoui presented the elements of a quadruple murder case which marked the town of Sig between October 10 and 13.

The investigation began after several reports of disappearances. Four people, from Remchi (Tlemcen), Mohammadia and Sig (Mascara), had disappeared at different times. On October 10, a first breakthrough took place with the discovery of the body of one of the missing people, buried in the house of a suspect (A. Kh.), in Sig, a town located 40 km from Mascara.

Her brother (AL) was arrested and admitted to having helped his sister, as well as an accomplice (TB), to bury the body. Another individual (BA) is also involved, having helped cover up traces of the crime. The suspect’s mother admitted to being aware of the facts but had not reported them.

On October 13, three more bodies were found near a wadi in Sig after reports of suspicious odors. The prosecutor also announced that the two main suspects had been located in Annaba. (TB) died in an accident in Sétif, and (A. Kh.) was arrested in Mohammadia on October 15.

During interrogations, (A. Kh.) revealed the existence of other accomplices, involving twelve people, nine of whom were arrested. On October 17, the suspects were presented to the prosecutor on serious charges including murder, aggravated robbery, hiding corpses and failure to report a crime. Eight suspects were placed in detention and another under judicial supervision. Three accomplices are still on the run.
