What is the procedure to follow for disaster victims?
Recognition of the state of natural disaster is essential for disaster victims. The compensation process can only begin when a natural disaster order has been published in the Official Journal. This decree specifies “the municipalities recognized as being in a state of natural disaster, the periods during which the events occurred and the nature of the damage caused”, indicates the Service-public.fr website. To be compensated, you must declare the damage to your insurance as soon as possible and, at the latest, within 30 days following the publication of the interministerial decree in the Official Journal, specifies France Assureurs.
