She explained this in an interview with Lou Media this Tuesday, May 21: “For ten years, I was caught in a whirlwind of demands, of meeting the expectations of others, and I think that deep down, I didn’t really listen to myself. And at 30, it didn’t fail. My body gave way, my head gave way, my heart told me ‘stop’. And so I experienced real emotional, mental and physical chaos.” Very exposed on social networks, Laury Thilleman even admits that she made “digital burnout”.

In order to clear her mind, Laury Thilleman went into exile in Bali, Indonesia, to do what she “the most passion in the world: surfing”. However, the 32-year-old young woman was the victim of a “fracture” at knee level. This injury marks the beginning of a long convalescence, for the worse and perhaps even for the better, as she confided to Lou Media : “I tell myself : ‘No, but it’s okay, it will pass.’ And in fact, I return to Paris, MRI, fracture of the tibial plateau, and so I am told that I have 4 months before walking again. I say: ‘No, that’s not possible. I have this show and then I have this, and then I have this. Oh no, it’s impossible. You stop everything, you have a work stoppage.’ Actually, I said no to 18,000 things, and it was the best gift of my life in fact.”

Afterward, Laury Thilleman’s surfing accident had beneficial effects on her relationship with those close to her and her outlook on life to the point that she “cured” herself : “I’m Laury again, 12 and a half years old, take care of me, I need love there. This injury of living again in slow motion, I relearned to apply everything I already knew: bring myself the right fuel, go to bed at a fixed time, get a good night’s sleep, turn off your phone… It’s all stuff idiot but all these little details made me heal myself. And as I learned to walk again, well at the same time I learned to love myself a little.” she said.
