The discussions in Naples will focus in particular on the United Nations peacekeeping mission in Lebanon (UNIFIL), where Israeli strikes have injured peacekeepers in actions that Italy and other countries described as violations of international law.
In Beirut on Friday, where she was visiting, the head of the Italian government, Giorgia Meloni, strongly condemned these attacks, calling them“unacceptable” and calling for a strengthening of UNIFIL.
