Traveling to the Eisstadion Davos, the Lausanne players failed to gain the advantage against a Graubünden team in good form. A 5-2 defeat for the Lions who were unable to find consistency during this meeting.

Moving too much

With a busy schedule at the start of the season, notably because of the Champions Hockey League, the people of Lausanne went to try their luck against HC Davos a few hours after their return from Tampere. Despite the fatigue of the organizations, the Vaudois were not surprised at the start of the match, in particular thanks to a good evening by Antoine Keller. Author of several decisive saves, the young goalkeeper delayed the deadline as long as possible, but was unable to do anything in the face of the Davosians’ first goal a few seconds before the siren.

Fatal weak time management

Back on the ice of the Eisstadion Davos with energy, the formation of Geoff Ward showed character by coming back to score quickly through Team Bozon. Well served by a Jason Fuchs solid in his duels against the band, the French winger was able to adjust his shot between the pads of the Davos goalkeeper Sandro Aeschlimann. Dominant and willing to score a second goal quickly, the Lions were unable to increase the score despite interesting attempts to Gavin Bayreuther a box play et de Makai Holdener.

Unfortunately, Damien Riat and his teammates failed to maintain their strong point throughout and experienced a similar end to the period as the previous one, conceding two unlucky goals in the last two minutes.

A glimmer of hope

The start of the 3rd period put a major damper on our Lions’ hopes of a comeback. With a 4th goal conceded, Anthony Keller gave up his place in the cage to Thibault Fatton who experienced his first minutes of the National League under the colors of Lausanne. This change gave courage to the Vaudois who saw the mark reduced thanks to good shooting.Antti Suomela in numerical superiority. Very present in the offensive zone to try the impossible, the LHC had good chances to come back into the match with more than 16 shots, which did not frighten the opposing goalkeeper.

The next meeting of the Lausanne Hockey Club

Our Lions will be able to meet their audience at the Vaudoise arena this Saturday, October 19 in the reception of HC Ambri-Piotta. It is certain that the unconditional support of Vaud spectators will give the Lausanne team the necessary boost to maintain their 2nd place in the National League rankings.
