Un conflict with your neighbor, a problem with the warranty on your washing machine, poorly done work… We would quickly be tempted to give up. However, an insurance product allows you to be covered against these damages which sometimes lead to long and thorny legal proceedings. This is what we call “comprehensive” (or extended) legal protection insurance. Since 2019, this even gives the right to a tax advantage. A political gesture which has helped to boost subscriptions in recent years: the number of premiums declared to the FPS Finances has increased by more than 230% in four years. On the ground, we acquiesce. “It’s a product that we sell quite well, with an increase in volumes,” notes Carmelo Terrasi, broker in Waterloo and vice-president of Feprabel, the federation of brokers. “Between 2021 and 2023, the number of contracts has almost doubled, reaching nearly 1,600 subscriptions,” Ethias further specifies. The numbers are still low, but the product is making headway.
