The FHF announces to resume GRASSROOTS sessions

The Haitian Football Federation (FHF) announced, via the National Technical Directorate (DTN), the resumption of football massification festivals, known as GRASSROOTS. These events will take place on May 24 and 26.

Port-au-Prince, May 21, 2024– The next GRASSROOTS sessions will be held in Hinche, covering the lower and upper Plateau regions, and in Cap-Haïtien, encompassing the departments of North, North-East and Artibonite. These sessions are specifically aimed at girls aged 15, 16 and 17.

According to the FHF press release, the GRASSROOTS program aims to encourage mass participation in football, stimulate interest in football among young people, and provide new opportunities for young people from diverse social backgrounds. GRASSROOTS differentiates itself from the professional and elite levels, focusing on organizing grassroots football to promote accessibility and inclusiveness in the sport.

The GRASSROOTS festival was initially launched in Port-au-Prince on December 27, 2023, at the Sylvio Cator stadium. Since then, it has played a crucial role in encouraging young girls’ participation in football, creating an environment where they can develop their skills and passion for the sport.

The relaunch of GRASSROOTS sessions demonstrates the FHF’s continued commitment to developing football at all levels and promoting the participation of young girls in sport. These initiatives are essential to build a solid foundation for the future of Haitian football.
