DECRYPTION – The pact announced this Wednesday is far from trivial and required several weeks of negotiations, in a context where price controls remain exceptional.

It’s a “protocol of objectives and means to combat the high cost of living” which should make it possible to alleviate tensions. Signed this Wednesday, the agreement concluded between the State and numerous other actors, including distributors, such as the Bernard Hayot group, up to parliamentarians, including the Grand Port maritime and the carrier CMA-CGM, aims to limit inflation on the island. For its detractors, however, this step remains largely insufficient: “The people in total disagreement (with the protocol) decided to continue the movement”warned the Rally for the Protection of Afro-Caribbean Peoples and Resources (RPPRAC), behind the mobilization. The group is particularly opposed to the number of products selected for the price reduction, considered too low.
