Emmanuel Macron’s anger last night against the journalists and Ministers who reported comments he allegedly made about Israel during the Council of Ministers. It is a lack of professionalism said the President, lecturing those who reported his sentences on the State of Israel created according to him by the UN.
At the end of the European Council, Emmanuel Macron therefore wanted to clarify his position since he reportedly said: “Mr. Netanyahu must not forget that his country was created by a UN decision.”
Comments which aroused the anger of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for whom the 1948 war created Israel, and not a UN decision.
The formula triggered new tension with Netanyahu and caused an uproar on the national political scene. Yesterday evening, Emmanuel Macron declared:
“It is up to each participant in the Council of Ministers not to circulate false, truncated or taken out of context information, and it is up to journalists and commentators to treat rumors and reported remarks with the necessary precautions. These rules apply to ministers, journalists, commentators.
I must tell you how amazed I was to read so many comments, reactions including from foreign or French political leaders to comments I made without asking the question of what exactly I would have said. I think I say enough about the situation in the Middle East not to need ventriloquists.
This is proof of the disintegration of public debate and a lack of professionalism on the part of ministers who repeated distorted comments, journalists who repeated them and commentators who did not focus on the reality and truth of such about.”
