Where are the overflows

In Béarn, overflows occurred mainly in the municipalities of:

  • Salies-de-Bearn,

  • Puyo,

  • Ramous,

  • Sauveterre-de-Bearn

  • and Bellocq.

35 interventions

In total, 35 interventions were recorded by firefighters in connection with the event in Béarn and the Basque Country (Saint-Palais and Saint-Pée-sur-Nivelle).

In view of the evolution of the situation, a point of vigilance should be noted: with the high tide of 5:15 p.m. and a strong coefficient of 110, certain rivers in the department should be placed on alert at the end of the day. Preventive measures are being considered and rules of caution are required.

Schools evacuated

In Béarn, in Salies-de-Béarn, students from 2 schools were brought to safety : La public school (148 students), Notre-Dame de l’Alliance private nursery school (63 students).

Parents of students were informed of the situation and invited to pick up their children.

At the Félix Pecaut college, parents of students were invited, as far as possible, to come and collect their children with the exception of boarding students.

The medico-psychological emergency unit (CUMP) is mobilized as necessary for students in the schools concerned.

The children of the “Lous Petitous” nursery were also brought to safety.

In the event that parents cannot pick up their children from schools or daycare immediately, reception is provided by the structures.
