Thursday October 17, 2024 in the morning, around 11:30 a.m., a gas leak was reported on avenue du Maréchal Leclerc, in Gaillon, in Eure. The incident occurred during earthworks on public roads. A construction machine accidentally tore a pipe under 4 bar pressure, causing a gas leak into the open air.

Faced with this situation, the authorities immediately evacuated three homes as well as a car garage, a total of eight people.

Thirteen firefighters mobilized

GRDF teams intervened quickly to stop the leak by crushing the damaged pipe, thus avoiding a worsening of the situation.

On site, 13 firefighters were mobilized to secure the area. After the intervention, the evacuated residents were able to return to their homes in complete safety. Only one home was affected by the gas cut, which should be restored quickly.
