The highest annual inflation rates were observed in Romania, Belgium and Croatia.

Annual inflation stood at 2.4% in the eurozone and 2.6% in the EU in April. This is what reveals EurostatFriday May 17, 2024.

Both figures are stable compared to March figures, but fell by 7% and 8.1% respectively compared to April 2023, further indicates the statistical authority of the 27-member bloc.

In this regard, the lowest annual national rates were observed in Lithuania (0.4%), Denmark (0.5%) and Finland (0.6%).

While the highest annual rates come from Romania (6.2%), Belgium (4.9%) and Croatia (4.7%).

However, “compared to March 2024, annual inflation decreased in fifteen Member States; while it remained stable in four and increased in eight,” notes Eurostat.

In April 2024, the largest contribution to the euro area’s annual inflation rate came from services. This was followed by food, alcohol, tobacco, non-energy industrial goods and energy.
