This is why the Fuxéenne association “Lune et l’Autre” organized a colorful parade on Friday in the colors of the rainbow, soft music at the head of the parade, an event which brought together only around thirty people at the heart of the county town.

Aurélien Poncini, co-president of the association, explains: “The day of May 17 is imposed by the ministry. We do not deviate from it, but it is a working day and this is the only reason for the defections that we note. All forms of physical and psychological violence are taken into account in Foix.

Elected officials Pascale Canal and Thomas Fromentin, president of the Foix-Varilhes Agglomeration, took part in this action.

Three forms of rejection

The date May 17 refers to the date on which the World Health Organization (WHO) affirmed its desire to remove homosexuality from the list of mental illnesses.

A reminder of the definitions of these three qualifications: homophobia designates contempt, rejection, exclusion or hatred towards people, practices or representations that are homosexual or are supposed to be. Regarding transphobia, transgender people are increasingly the targets of attacks. The hatred they arouse has even become an area of political exploitation, playing on the population’s lack of understanding of the subject. Finally, biphobia refers to manifestations of contempt, rejection and hatred towards bisexual or related people or practices.
