The finale of Young Sheldon was revealed to the public on Thursday May 16 on the American channel CBS. The end of the spin-off The Big Bang Theory provoked different emotions among viewers. Apart from the tragedy that affected the Cooper family, Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik returned to the screen to reprise the roles of Sheldon Cooper and Amy Farrah Fowler, two of the most emblematic characters of the series The Big Bang Theory. He and Amy actually had two children. A boy named Leonard, just like his best friend and former roommate. The latter plays hockey for the Pasadena Penguins. Their daughter’s name has not been revealed, but she obviously shares some things in common with Penny. In the final episode of Young SheldonSheldon said to Amy: “Your daughter wants to take acting classes.” To which she replied: “I told you we should never have let Penny babysit.”

For this return of Sheldon and Amy, several nods to The Big Bang Theory were made. Viewers notably spotted Sheldon’s Nobel Prize, a framed photo of “Shamy” in Stockholm, the famous DNA model, a Flash muga Rubik’s Cube coaster and the sofa in apartment 4A which Sheldon and Leonard occupied for several years. Speaking to the American site TVLine, executive producer Steve Holland clarified that this finale contained even more references: “There’s the boxing robot painting that hung in the living room… Sheldon’s Gollum statue is on his desk… there’s a little MythBusters figure of Adam Savage that was on his bookshelf on Big Bang Theory.”
