Frying on the Paris-Marseille line at Renaissance. The president of the Southern region, Renaud Muselier, made a rant at the executive office of the presidential party last Thursday evening. The object of his wrath? He had just learned “by the band” that the Parisian deputies David Amiel and Sylvain Maillard were preparing to resubmit their proposed PLM law – postponed several times then fell with the dissolution – reforming the method of municipal election in Paris, Lyon and Marseille, so that the mayor of these three cities be chosen as in other municipalities in France.
A very Parisian calculation to put a spoke in the wheels of Anne Hidalgo which makes the Marseillais scream: “I already told you that it’s bullshit, you should have talked to me about it, you’re going to give the city to [Sébastien] Delogu!” An allusion to the rebellious deputy from Marseille because Muselier fears that a change in voting method would favor LFI in his city.
His director Romain Simmarano made it clear in an incendiary press release on Monday. “Message to Parisians who claim to decide the destiny of the people of Marseille: focus on your city. Our collective opposes this attempt at hasty tampering, at such a sensitive moment”écrit
