It’s a privilege for Breton high school students! One day before the start of the literary festival, literature lovers met in Saint-Malo for the 34th edition of the international book and film festival, on the occasion of a special day dedicated to them!

Every year, Étonnants voyageurs brings together lovers of literature of all kinds with the program: meetings with authors, debates, literary cafés, exhibitions, screenings of documentary and fiction films, literary prizes, etc.

A special day for high school students and apprentices on May 17

This festival is also dedicated to young readers, middle and high school students who have their own school days. In fact, every year, Breton high school students and apprentices are invited to discover it in preview. This year they were 679 to discover the festival in preview. Note this year, the participation of the two maritime high schools of Paimpol and Saint-Malo. The opportunity for young people to meet authors whose work they have studied and to interact with publishing professionals.

Theme 2024: Quebec

This is the theme that was chosen this year. Based on the work studied, the students then produced a collective “logbook” describing their approach to the work, in a literary and aesthetic manner. Four favorites rewarded the best 2024 logbooks!

  • The future” by Caterine Leroux,
  • Kulum” by Michel Jean.

The winning classes of the 2024 “Coups de cœur”

  • The 1st professional marine electromechanic baccalaureate class from the Florence-Arthaud high school in Saint Malo, according to “Kukum“,
  • The 1st year Humanities, literature and philosophy class at the Colbert high school in Lorient, according to “The Snowshoe Hare“,
  • The 2nd professional baccalaureate class in customer relations professions (MRC1) at the La Mennais high school in Ploërmel, according to “The future“,
  • The 1st grade Humanities, literature and philosophy class at the Saint Martin high school (Sainte Geneviève site) in Rennes, according to “My Forests“.
