While Ubisoft has just postponed Assassin’s Creed Shadows to February 14, 2025, rumors about the remake of a very popular opus are resurfacing. While waiting for more information on Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe, it is therefore an old game which occupies the space.

Ubisoft: a particularly turbulent year 2024

Although it is not the publisher that has downsized the most during this strange global video game crisis, Ubisoft is nonetheless in difficulty. In addition to the endless development of Beyond Good & Evil 2, which we haven’t heard from for a long time, the publisher must face many challenges. There were of course the cases revealed in 2020, but recently the problems are mainly linked to production. Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown received excellent critical reception but was not a hit, and Star Wars Outlaws had a disappointing launch. The feedback on this title has also pushed Ubisoft to postpone the release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

Since the start of 2024, the stock price has fallen by 39.8%.reaching its lowest level in around ten years. However, the action experienced a rebound of more than 33.5% on October 4 based on new takeover rumors. Tencent is once again at the heart of the matter, the Chinese company owning 9.74% of the publisher. We are talking about meetings between the heads of the entities, and even a possible agreement with a view to delisting. All of this should be taken with the greatest grain of salt possible, but things are getting agitated at Ubisoft.

Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag would indeed be entitled to a remake

To stabilize the company, Ubisoft did not hesitate to say qu’Assassin’s Creed was THE publisher’s franchiseand we understand through the Infinity project (which could be called Hub Animus) that these are not empty words. While waiting to discover the multiple projects in progress, including Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe, it is Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag which is the subject of persistent rumors. Released in 2013, it moved away a little from the direct confrontation between assassins and templars to tell us a story about piracy in the 18th century Caribbean. The opportunity to introduce naval combat, which motivated the (complicated) creation of Skull and Bones.

At any rate, the title would be the subject of a remakeand the exit from it would be less distant than expected. According to Tom Henderson of Insider Gaming, the release of the Black Flag remake was until recently scheduled for November 2025. With the postponement of Shadows, the release window may have changed. However, it is appropriate to take big tweezers, nothing has been announced or confirmed about the Black Flag remake. Insider Gaming also claims to have received a gameplay video of this remake, but no images of it have been released.
