Sherif Lawal, a British middleweight boxer, died after collapsing during his first professional fight. The event took place on Sunday at London’s Harrow Leisure Centre, where 29-year-old Lawal was pitted against Malam Varela. It was in the fourth round that the boxer collapsed, after suffering a terrible blow from his opponent.

The Harrow Leisure Centre, located in North West London, was the scene of tragedy this Sunday. Sherif Lawal, a British middleweight, fell in the ring, beaten by his Portuguese opponent Malam Varela in the fourth round. It was on this occasion that the young man, who was making his professional debut, did not get up again. The boxer was taken care of by the rescuers present on site and was transported unconscious to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead despite the efforts of paramedics. He was only 29 years old.
