Around 10:15 a.m., this Thursday, October 10, an attack targeting an armored van took place in the city center of Grenoble, at the corner of Cours Berriat and Cours Jean-Jaurès, a very busy and busy axis of the city.

Exchange of gunfire in the city center
An armored van from the Loomis company, with three conveyors on board, was coming from the Banque de France, located on Boulevard Edouard-Rey in Grenoble, when it was blocked by a white van on its arrival at the Jean-Jaurès course.
“They attacked this van with a white van which they tried to set on fire as they left. They were in two Mercedes, one which they abandoned after crashing it and the second we have probably just found in flames near Grenoble”indicated this Thursday morning, during a press conference, the public prosecutor of Grenoble, Éric Vaillant.
Exchanges of gunfire took place between the criminals and the conveyors at the intersection between Cours Jean-Jaurès and Cours Berriat, some witnesses speak of “burst detonations” .
The conveyors managed to escape from the shooting to take refuge at the nearest gendarmerie, that of Seyssinet-Pariset, in the Grenoble metropolis. “They are shocked but not hurt”according to Mr. Vaillant. The van was carrying 7 million euros, according to a source close to the matter to franceinfo.
Two minor injuries, no deaths
During this attack, two people were slightly injured, collateral victims. “By fleeing, the criminals caused accidents. There were two minor injuries, a person who was in a vehicle and a person who caught shards of glass. Three people who were nearby were shocked, but not injured “, added the Grenoble prosecutor during his press briefing. “The conveyors, three in number, were shocked but unhurt,” added a police source.

Like her, a motorist who passed by with his children could not contain his emotion: “We saw the armed people who set the van on fire. It happened very quickly, it lasted around fifteen seconds. We put ourselves on top of the children to try to protect them from a stray bullet. I have tears coming up, it’s like in the movies except that it’s reality. I was very scared for my children. But everything is fine.”
The attackers still on the run
The attackers, whose number is currently unknown, fled and are actively being sought. “Nothing was stolen”, Kader Bengueche, national CGT delegate from the Loomis company, told AFP.
A flagrant investigation for “armed robbery by an organized gang and criminal association with a view to committing a crime”. The Specialized Interregional Jurisdiction (JIRS) of Lyon took charge of the case. The investigations are entrusted to the Organized and Specialized Crime Division (DCOS) of Isère and the judicial police of Lyon.
