The AFIELD Prize, which celebrates agents of cultural change across the world, was awarded to Sahad Sarr for his transformative efforts in Senegal. Since 2017, the artist has initiated the Kamyaak eco-village project in the Fatick region, an initiative aimed at promoting intercultural exchange, protecting the environment, and fighting against rural exodus. This space, in the heart of the rural community, has become a symbol of hope for young people and women, particularly affected by economic and social challenges.

Sahad Sarr was also distinguished for his impact in the cultural sector in Dakar through his pan-African label Stereo Africa 432, founded in 2020. The label’s mission is to professionalize young artists and equip them with the necessary tools to emergence of their artistic projects while promoting training in professions. The AFIELD Foundation recognized these actions as a model of profound social change, highlighting the influence of artists in transforming their societies.

The Stereo Africa label would like to thank Aisha Deme, advisory member of the AFIELD network, for having convincingly defended Sahad’s project to the jury. The award ceremony took place on September 27 in Brussels, bringing together the other winners and actors of cultural change.

At the same time, Sahad Sarr was selected to perform at Visa For Music 2024, a major event that brings together African and Middle Eastern music professionals. This show, which will be held in Rabat, Morocco, from November 20 to 23, 2024, is an essential platform for African artists wishing to connect with the international music industry. Sahad will present a showcase which promises to captivate professionals and strengthen his notoriety on the Pan-African music scene.

With these two distinctions, Sahad Sarr confirms his central role in cultural and social development in Africa, brilliantly combining artistic creativity and community commitment.
