A castle in southern destroyed in a major fire

A large fire brigade was dispatched to Mansigné, in southern , this Thursday, October 10. Shortly before 10 a.m., a fire broke out in a castle from the 1630s, at a place called Penchien. The flames, very significant, destroyed more than 70% of the building, but there were no injuries. At noon, 59 firefighters were on site with around thirty machines, as well as the mayor of the town, François Boussard.

The fire was contained at the beginning of the afternoon, but firefighters continued to intervene to water the embers and ensure that the fire did not restart. A danger order will very soon be issued by the mayor, in order to protect the places and avoid visits, because certain parts of the castle now present risk of collapseincluding roofs, boards and dog-sitting.

An unknown origin

The owner of the property was there with her mother when the fire broke out, but both were quickly taken to safety. Of the temporary accommodation solutions will soon be offered to them. At this time, the origin of the fire is unknown.
