With less than a month until the US presidential election in which her husband Donald is a candidate, Barron’s mother published a book titled Melaniain which she looks back on her first meeting with the future president of the United States at the end of the 1990s. In 1998, the young woman was attending a Fashion Week party with a friend when she met the man who was then already a famous businessman. “I saw my friend greeting someone behind me. When I turned around, I noticed a man and an attractive blonde woman approaching us”writes Melania Trump in an extract from the book revealed by several American media as Variety.
After introducing himself, Donald Trump shook his hand. “His eyes filled with curiosity and interest and, seizing the opportunity, he sat down next to mine and started a conversation”says the former First Lady in her book. “He asked me about my time in New York, my Slovenian home, and my travels around the world. It was a moment of connection, a brief encounter that left a lasting impression”remembers the one who unknowingly lived the beginning of the rest of her life with the man who was still married to Marla Maples. Even if their separation dates back to 1997, the divorce was only recorded in 1999. However, the married man did not hesitate to embark on a new flirtation with Melania from whom he asked for her telephone number. She says she initially refused, but asked for hers anyway. “I’ll give you my number if you promise to call me.”Donald Trump would have told him.
